I am sorry my blog posts have been irregular for the last couple of months. I have been travelling and I am trying to finish writing my book.
Please bear with me until I return to my normal routine. Until then, for those of you who didn’t read this, on Friday 05 August it was the 13th anniversary of my arrest so I sent out this small message on social media…
Today is the 13th anniversary of my arrest in London on 05 August 2004.
I spent the next 11 years in prison, including 5yrs in isolation and 2yrs in complete solitary confinement.
I was extradited to the USA where a fair judge looked at all the evidence, including the so-called ‘naval battleship plans’ mentioned in this headline, and then declared that I was not a terrorist.
I was released and returned home to my family in London two years ago in July 2015, all praise be to Allah.
As I look back at my experience I believe that my life is richer today as a result of everything I went through.
Whatever you are going through in your life, know that no hardship lasts forever, there is always an end.
I am a survivor, not a victim.

Alhamdullilah you have not lost your sanity and your faith. My grandmother was born into Jewish family in Czechoslovakia. During W W2 , she was transported along her family to a concentration camp. She was around 15 years old. As she never spoke about it, all I know she survived several years there. Went on the Death March and the Soviet Army found her left on a pile of dead bodies – nearly dead. She lost her family and her faith. I praise Allah for guiding me to Islam and hope to never be put through a trial that would be too hard for me to bear.
