Is There A Link Between Manchester Bomber Salman Abedi And A Companion Of The Prophet (PBUH)

Why did 22 year old British Libyan Salman Abedi blow up 22 men, women and children at a concert in Manchester on 22 May 2017?

Some have suggested he was mentally ill.

Some have said that it was because he fell out with his family.

Others have said he did it to fulfil an obligation of “jihad.”

So far, no will, statement or video of Abedi has appeared in which he explains his motivations.

Salman’s sister Jomana reportedly told the Wall Street Journal that he did the bombing as an act of revenge.

“I think he saw children—Muslim children—dying everywhere, and wanted revenge,” she was quoted  in the Wall Street Journal as saying.

“He saw the explosives America drops on children in Syria, and he wanted revenge. Whether he got that is between him and God.”

These words appear to be the closest that is known in public about Salman Abedi’s motivations for his actions.

In other words, if this is true, it means that he killed British children in Manchester because a third country (the USA) dropped bombs in a fourth country (Syria).

The last time I checked, the eye for an eye mentioned in The Bible and The Quran meant your eye for my eye. It didn’t mean the lives, arms and legs of anyone of your race in exchange for my eye.

Salman Abedi’s family is of Libyan origin. It is reported that he went to Libya aged 16 to fight the Gadaffi regime and since then made several trips to Libya.

I thought about several other Libyans who picked up arms in Jihad and wondered whether Salman Abedi knew about them.

Assuming what Salman’s sister Jomana said about his desire for revenge is true, I wonder if the people he looked up to had told him about the link between Libya and Jihad.

I wonder if Salman Abedi knew about his countryman and imam, Sheikh Omar Mukhtar, the Libyan man who fought the Italian invaders of his country for 20 years from 1911 until he was captured and hanged by Italian forces in 1931.

Anothony Quinn plays Omar Mukhtar in the famous 1981 movie Lion of the Desert. If you have not seen this movie, I highly recommend it.

I wonder if Salman Abedi knew that Omar Mukhtar faced Italian soldiers on numerous battlefields, face to face like lions do, but he did not touch any defenceless men, women and children who had done him no harm.

Salman Abedi was born on 31 December 1994. Five years before he was born, another one of his fellow countrymen, Dr. Salih Muhammad fell in battle in Jalalabad in 1989 while fighting Soviet troops who had invaded and terrorised Afghanistan.

Dr. Salih was also a British Libyan who travelled to Afghanistan to treat wounded Afghan civilians and fighters, and to fight invading Soviet troops. He never harmed any defenceless man, woman or child.

Salman Abedi was a five month old baby when another one of his fellow countrymen, Abu Abdullah Al-Libi, known as the Black Lion, displayed courage and valour in Bosnia.

On 27 May 1995 the Black Lion Abu Abdullah fell on the battlefield after he led an army of Mujahideen fighters in battle against Serb soldiers who had killed, raped and terrorised innocent Bosnian Muslims for years. Yes, terrorised.

I wonder if Salman knew that the Black Lion fought the terrorists who terrorised innocent women and children. He did not touch a single innocent Serb man, woman or child.

And before all these Libyans, I wonder if Salman Abedi was familiar with an individual by the name of Ruwayfi bin Thabit Al-Ansari bin As-Sakan bin Adi bin Al-Harith?

Ruwayfi bin Thabit Al-Ansari was a Companion of the Prophet (pbuh) from the tribe of Banu Malik in Madinah and the narrator of some of his hadith (Prophetic sayings).

In one such hadith, the Prophet (pbuh) foretold that Ruwayfi bin Thabit (ra) would live for a long time after the former’s death. He (pbuh) said:

“O Ruwayfi! You may live for a long time after I am gone, so tell people…” [Ahmad]

After the death of the Prophet (pbuh), Ruwayfi bin Thabit (ra) did indeed live for a long time. In fact he lived for another 40 years.

During this time Ruwayfi bin Thabit (ra) became a commander of a Muslim army that conquered Roman armies all over north Africa.

Ruwayfi bin Thabit (ra) died in 56AH (679CE) and is buried in a north African city by the name of Bayda which is located in the east of a country known today as… Libya.

I wonder if Manchester bomber Salman Abedi knew that Ruwayfi bin Thabit (ra), a Companion of the Prophet (pbuh), is buried in Libya, the country of Abedi’s parents?

I wonder if Salman Abedi knew that Ruwayfi bin Thabit (ra), like the other Companions of the Prophet (pbuh), was a warrior who never spilt the blood of defenceless men, women and children.

It has been suggested that Salman Abedi was “brainwashed” to do what he did. In other words, that he should not be held responsible for this act because others led him to do it.

But is it really possible for you to be brainwashed into believing or doing anything unless you allow yourself to be brainwashed?

It was even suggested to me, recently, that the Manchester bombing did not actually happen, that it was all a government “hoax” to further some hidden conspiracy.

I wonder if Dr. Ibrar Majid, the practising Muslim surgeon who worked through the night trying to save children, yes children, who were injured in this bombing, thinks that the Manchester bombing was a hoax and made up to turn the country against Muslims?

Hundreds of years ago the Prophet (pbuh) foretold us about a sect of Muslims known as the Khawarij who will emerge after his death from the region of Iraq. He (pbuh) said:

“From there will emerge people who recite the Quran, but it will not go pass their throats. They will leave Islam as an arrow leaves its prey.” [Al-Bukhari 6934]

In another narration, he (pbuh) said: “The Khawarij are the dogs of the Hell fire.”

There are Muslims today who are trying to besmirch the legacy of the Prophet (pbuh) and his Companions. They claim that they alone are on the straight path and every other Muslim is astray.

They are killing, raping and looting other Muslims before anyone else. They are torturing and killing Mujahideen, the true inheritors of the Companions of the Prophet (pbuh).

But they will never succeed. The legacy of the Prophet (pbuh)’s Companions is too pure to be corrupted by fake Muslims.

May Allah guide their hearts and bring them back to the straight path before it is too late.
